Who am I?

Maia Matches (née Maia Machèn) is a Canadian-born comic artist, illustrator, and archivist who has lived in the Netherlands since 1999. Fluent in both English and Dutch, she combines her cross-cultural perspective with a deep commitment to social justice. Her work is driven by a strong feminist voice and a graphic style rooted in lived experience, often weaving together personal and political histories. In 2025, she graduated with a Master in Graphic Storytelling from LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, BE.
